DTC Ultra Brings BIG Wins, BIG Races to Dayton

Updated: Oct 6

Dayton Track Club members rocked the East Fork Ultramarathon in August, scoring big victories on the course and contributing to our winners’ success as members of their support crews.

In November, you might see some of them racking up the miles right here at home.

DTC Ultra Team Leader Sara Beth Adducchio was the first-place female in the 100-mile race (29:10:59.25), and DTC Ultra Ambassador Nancy Costa (31:43:26.15) finished second. DTC Ultra member Taton Bertsch was the first-place male in the 100 miler and set the course record of 20:52:17.23.

A special shoutout goes to Ruth Kohstall - the 71-year-old LEGEND who finished the 100 miler in 37 hours. The 2025 race was redemption for Ruth, as a fall in a ravine last year ended her day – and led her to the hospital to get her head stapled. That ravine, by the way, has been named in her honor.

As with any ultra, these milestones wouldn’t have been possible without the support of dedicated crew members – many of whom also represent DTC. Martha Swatt-Robison, a member of Nancy’s crew, is an ultra legend in her own right, having won Leadville and garnering a top 10 finish at Western States. Brian Lutz was another crew member and pacer who’s been a solid DTC member for many years, pursuing every distance from 5Ks to 100 miles. Visit the DTC Instagram page for a feature on Brian and his participation in the 2025 Badwater Cape Fear ultra.

It's safe to say there’s plenty of ultrarunning talent in Dayton, and they’re eager to welcome others to our growing trail and ultra community. In fact, if you want to get some long runs in with DTC Ultra leaders and ambassadors, you can always join one of our monthly Sunset Runs at Caesar Creek State Park!
